How can I get into wax sculpting or general theater prosthetics?

I am a huge fan of celebrity wax museums as well as Steve Wang. I am starting to get into art as far as drawing and painting is concerned but I want to try 3D objects. Does anyone know anywhere or how I can get into sculpting or what is involved in doing the wax dummys?
